The Movie - The Latest
A special
viewing of Gibsonburg The Movie is planned during the spring of 2012 in
Gibsonburg Ohio at no cost to moviegoers,
according to writer/director Bob Mahaffey.
Mahaffey owns
the production company, Xcelerate Media, Inc. of Dublin, Ohio, which is
creating the film. According to the Gibsonburg The Movie Facebook page,
Mahaffey utilized the services of about 50 film
students from colleges and universities across the country who all
played an integral part in making the film. The Facebook page indicates that
each student will share 45 % of the profits of the film.
Xcelerate
Media, Inc., is submitting Gibsonburg The Movie to
the Sundance Film Festival. If the Festival committee selects the film as a
finalist, it will be shown at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2012.
Scenes of the
film were recorded at North Union, Dublin Jerome and Jonathan Alder high
schools in Central Ohio and at Huntington Park in Columbus. Multiple scenes
were also recorded at the Ideal Bakery in downtown Gibsonburg.
Bob Mahaffey
is reported as saying he has a $200,000 budget for shooting the movie, which
revolves around the story of Gibsonburg baseball pitcher Andy Gruner.
