Gibsonburg The
Movie is a story about the relationships surrounding members of the
Gibsonburg baseball team from 2005 during their quest to win a state
championship. The team was outsized most of the post season, after finishing
the regular season with a 6-17 record. Gibsonburg High School is the only
team in the history of Ohio high school athletics to win a state baseball

The storyline
in the movie follows the captain of the Gibsonburg High School baseball
team, senior Andy Gruner. Throughout the movie we follow the tribulations of
his family's business and a family secret. Gruner, in the movie, seeks out a
relationship with a girl he has a crush on, Kathy Collaner.

While
Gibsonburg The Movie is about a
miraculous baseball post season for an underdog team, it is more about the
relationships of the players involved with the the
Gibsonburg Ohio team and how these teens
cope with the trials and tribulations of life.
The movie,
shot in 2011, is
produced by Xcelerate Media, Inc., of Dublin, Ohio and stars rising actress
Lili Reinhart and comedic actress Judy Tenuta. Also making appearances in
the film are major league baseball player Kent Mercker and about two dozen
other actors. The film is written and
directed by Bob Mahaffey, a graduate of nearby Elmwood High School in Ohio.
The film emphasizes that Gibsonburg The Movie is based on a true story and
was created by Xcelerate Media, Inc., Savannah College of Art and Design
Alumnus Jonathan Kimble and 50 college interns.
